Now that we got the introduction out of the way, we come to the nitty-gritty, and that is to get started with our website. There is no getting away with this if you want your website to be a business. To earn money, you have to invest. The beauty of the online business is you can have it without spending a fortune.
A few hundred dollars is all it takes. In fact, it will only take around $10 a month for your hosting fee and I think I can find you one for $6.95 and approximately $10 a year for the name of your business. Compare that to a brick and mortar store that will set you back thousands of dollars, this really is a no-brainer.
But I don’t want you to buy a hosting account just yet as your first step because choosing the correct topic for your business may take a week. There is no sense starting to pay for a hosting account when we are not absolutely ready for it. And we will not be ready unless we choose a topic for our business.
Choosing a topic is not as easy as people want you to believe. They want people to believe everything is easy so we will buy their products, but as soon as we get there, we will be like little lost lambs in the wood. Believe you me, I have done that. I have signed up for coaching, some with good people while others just led me down the garden path. This is something I don’t want to happen to you. And I will share with you only the good stuff.
Choosing a topic is where people make their first critical mistake – a mistake that will result in not earning money at all. Getting this wrong, no matter how well we do in the rest of the stages on earning money online, will result in nothing, nada, zilch, zero. Why should you listen to me? Because it happened to me but by the time I realized it, I was already helping quite a few people, and I will not abandon them.
Anyway, back to the topic selection, we have to know two crucial things: the psychology of why people buy things and how we can find them so we can present them the solution to what they are seeking. These people must be feeling some pain or have an intense passion to the point they are actively looking for it and yet they’re finding few options to satisfy their need.
So can you see that if people are not actively looking to meet their needs on your topic your website will not get anywhere? Then there’s the second view to think about. Is the solution you’re going to offer them unique, if not better than all the rest they are reading about? Some go around this by using sub-niche, building a brand, making a better product and marketing it better than anybody else.
